Rodgers and Hammerstein's

"When you're driving through the moonlight" and "A Lovely Night" are my favorite tracks on this very exciting musical soundtrack for the "Cinderella" live TV performance that aired in 1957 on CBS television. The entire CD is pure unadulterated entertainment. Julie Andrews' voice is perfection itself as Cinderella and you are transported back to that place and time when you listen to her sing. The Prince (Jon Cypher) also has a rich voice that perfectly complements Ms. Andrews in their duets. The musical orchestrations are exciting and unparalleled. "Waltz for a ball" is magnificent in its original form. The "Stepsisters' Lament" is funny and entertaining and performed excellently by Kaye Ballard and Alice Ghostley. This first and original Cinderella soundtrack is classic material that will survive the test of time and has not been improved upon in the 1965 remake. And if the music is not enough, the remastered soundtrack CD (released in 1999)includes rare photos from Cinderella (1957) and four bonus tracks.
